Nivea skincare products including moisturizers, lotions, creams and lip balms are among those certain products that never go out of demand. The products hold a high market share amongst the customers and being in the market for generations, the Brand has created its unique and renowned identity. Counterfeiters take advantage of this identity and brand image to replicate the products and sell them as original.

Counterfeiter Saifee Commercial Syndicate was identified by Checkers Investigation Team, actively involved in selling and trading of counterfeit Nivea products. The products were fake but were close copy of the original and using the same brand name to take advantage of genuine Nivea buyers. The products were identified as counterfeits on the bases of; (1) Poor Quality of the product itself, (2) smell and texture of the product, (3) poor in packaging and labels, (4) production and expiry dates, (5) etc.

The wholesaler was closely monitored and sample purchases were made. Once the products were confirmed to be fake, Anti – Counterfeiting Raid Action was taken against the target by Checkers Raiding Team in coordination of Local Police. The premises were swiped clean of the counterfeit products available and the accused was arrested.

Checkers Team and Police further proceeded signing of Cease-and-Desist Agreement by the accused, in presence of the witness and Police personnel. The accused was also interrogated to locate the supplier of the counterfeit products and identify leads of sellers who are buying these products from the targeted wholesaler. In order to completely clean the market from counterfeit Nivea products, all confiscated fake products from the raids were destroyed, to prevent the products from re – entering the market.

By conducting regular Anti – Counterfeit Enforcement Action, the counterfeiters are hesitant in involving in activities of Fake Nivea products. This action creates deterrence in the market and wholesalers are aware of the legal implications of selling and trading Counterfeit (Fake) products.
